Villa Macia is a typical Tuscan country estate on the Florentine hills, surrounded by an Italian-style garden, located approximately 20 km away from Florence city centre, in a marvellous position immersed in the quiet of green olive groves, with stunning panoramic view of the town of Florence and the Arno valley.
The Villa was built in the 14th century by the Florentine Family of Mazzinghi and belonged to this family of Comeana till the eighteenth century. The stone portals, the lacunar ceiling and the secret spirals stairs go back to that period.
The original building of the 14th century was renovated in the 18th century by Marquis De’ Gori Zondadari Panillini, owners of the Villa since the 18th century. In this occasion, an open gallery with round-headed arches was built on the top of the front, raised on the roof and with two baroque volutes on both side.
In 1875 the Villa became proprerty of the Lepri Family, whose descendants are the current owners, and further changes and extension works were done.
Some of the rooms of the Villa were painted in frescos with typical nineteenth-century ornaments. The villa was recently completely carefully restored, paying attention in preserving the ancient structures and the frescoes, without omitting all the modern comforts, like the air conditioned systems.
The rooms are all spacious, elegantly furnished in antique Tuscany style.
In the garden near the villa, a swimming pool offers refreshment in the summer time, together with an incredible view over the valley of Florence.
The villa is placed on the hill overlooking the countryside of Tuscany from Florence to Prato until Pistoia, on the road that climbs from Comeana to Carmignano. The nearest shops are in Comeana at 1 km distance, in Carmignano at 4 km and in Signa at 8 km. Supermarket and bank can be found in Poggio a Caiano in 3 km distance.
Florence is easily reachable in 15Km, as well as Prato, that is at 15 km distance, Pistoia at 30 km, Pisa at 70 km, Lucca at 80 Km.
The villa extends on two floors: at ground floor there are an entrance in a small living-room, big living-room with frescos and big doors on the panoramic terrace with access to the garden, dining-room, small parlour, small kitchen and two bedrooms with 2 baths outside the rooms.
At the first floor of the Villa there are 5 double rooms, 3 rooms with en suite bathroom and 2 with bathroom outside.
